As a financial expert, you know the term “time is money” is more than just a saying, it’s a certainty. You also know more and more of your colleagues, peers and competitors are engaging the latest technologies to boost their marketing efforts. Initiating online marketing strategies is easy – the tough part is keeping up. So, how do you stay on track with the fast-paced online world that has grasped our culture? Better yet, how can you maximize these opportunities to help build your credibility and expand your business? Consider these simple ideas to ease your mind:
Create a calendar
As a finance professional, you would agree that developing a plan is one of the best ways for an individual to achieve financial success. Well, the same idea applies for your social and online marketing efforts. Create a calendar detailing what you want to post and when you want to post it. Perhaps every Tuesday you can plan to post a financial tip. Maybe every Wednesday you will write an article for your blog. And, on Friday’s, you will re-post, with permission, a link to a general article of interest. Of course, you can post other news and items of interest as they transpire, but having a general calendar with pre-planned topics can help alleviate the anxiety of, “oh, no - what do I post today???”
Did you know you can link your e-newsletter, blog and social media posts? Linking allows you to post something in one and have it picked up across multiple sources. For instance, when you compose an e-newsletter in Constant Contact, you are given an option to include a link across your social media sites. Some blogs allow you to also automatically post links as well. You may also want to consider third party providers such as HootSuite, which allow you to automate and manage posts for multiple social media sites.
Utilize mobile apps
Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and WordPress are among the many social sites and blog providers who have mobile applications. So, while you are sitting on the train on the way to work or have some spare time in between meetings, consider using a mobile app on your smartphone or tablet to check and update your posts.
Streamline your business
If you are not already doing so, consider exploring Google Apps for Business. Google Apps allow you to streamline and access your e-mail (Gmail), Google+, and Calendar applications all in one convenient location with a single log in. You can even store your files in the cloud on Google Drive and access them from anywhere. This is especially convenient when you have pre-written content you would like to access and post while away from the office. You can even create your social and online marketing calendar with Google Calendar and sync it across all of your computers and devices. Third party providers including spanning.com even offer back-up services for Google Apps. So, if you accidently delete something from your Calendar, Drive or other Google app, all is not lost!
